Detail:
The world's first peat rum was breathed into life by the Dutch company Schotman, which is one of the youngest on the spirits market. Eric Koster first tried to smoke only a small amount to see how the rum would react and if the aroma of the smoke could be captured in the rum at all. The rum then matured in a small cask. When it came time to taste the result, Eric Koster was more than pleasantly surprised. And ready to create the first sharp version. Currently, the first batch is being followed by others with equally surprising tastes.

Flavor Profile:
Schotman Peated Rum Batch 2 Pedro Ximenez Finish is nicely balanced. A mixture of rums aged 2-9 years is created by a combination of still and continuous distillation. After aging in bourbon casks, it rests for another two years in Pedro Ximenez casks. The aroma is pleasant, with fruity citrus notes and aromas of caramel and sugar cane. The taste shows raisins, reminiscent of aging in a wine barrel, caramel and fine earthy peat. Rum is not sweetened or colored.
