Blue Nun has always made its own unique history. H. Sichel Söhne, the company from Mainz with roots dating back to 1857, founded the German brand in 1921. During the Second World War the German wine industry was struggling, above all in the export sector. After the war H. Sichel Söhne set up the headquarters in London and New York, where the foundations of the international success of the “Blue Nun” were laid. The brand Blue Nun was dramatically growing from 50s to 80s. During these decades the international stars began to perceive the wine brand (“Liebfraumilch”) as the perfect accompaniment for glamorous nights in the city.
As the first German wine brand, which was distributed exclusively to overseas countries, the Blue Nun gained the international fame during these years and became one of the biggest brands in the world.
