Scallywag Speyside Blended Malt is a distinctive Scottish blended malt whiskey from the Speyside region, crafted exclusively from single malt whiskeys selected from local distilleries. This 1-liter Global Traveller’s Edition is bottled at 48% alcohol, unchill-filtered and with no added color, to preserve as much of its natural character as possible.
Tasting Profile:
Color: Amber.
Nose: Sweet and spicy, with pronounced notes of vanilla.
Palate: Fruit compote, Christmas pudding, dark chocolate, and spices.
Finish: Long and rich, with notes of zesty orange, sweet tobacco, cocoa, and fruit cake.
Sherry casks play a significant role in the maturation process, lending the whiskey a rich fruity and chocolatey profile. The aroma blends sweetness with spices and pronounced vanilla. The taste is full-bodied and layered, with notes of sweet fruit compote, Christmas pudding, dark chocolate, and warming spices.
The long finish continues with notes of zesty orange, sweet tobacco, cocoa, and rich fruit cake. Thanks to its higher ABV of 48%, the whiskey feels intense and full-bodied, yet remains typically sweet and fruity in the Speyside style.
About the Scallywag brand:
Scallywag is part of the Remarkable Regional Malts collection by Douglas Laing & Co., an independent Scottish family-owned company founded in 1948. The brand represents the Speyside region and its characteristic fruity, sweet, and sherry-oriented profile. Both the name and the fox terrier motif on the label reference the Douglas Laing family’s long tradition of owning dogs.
