Bruichladdich Octomore 14.2 Limited Edition is a fascinating chapter in the story of one of the world's boldest whiskies. In this edition, the Bruichladdich distillery ventures into the world of European oak and wine casks, which give their traditional ultra-peaty whisky a whole new dimension. The result is a highly complex and extremely distinctive single malt that combines brutal smoke with the refined influence of Spanish and Italian wines.
Tasting profile:
Color: Deep amber with a dark ruby hue reminiscent of mature red wine.
Nose: The initial wave is intense and appealing – pungent peat smoke combines with aromas of leather, dried plums, and red currants. Gradually, notes of malted barley, cinnamon, toasted oak, and hints of green apple and black pepper develop. The smoke is not sharp, but deep and dark, with hints of burnt heather and pipe tobacco.
Taste: Rich, layered, and very intense. The palate is dominated by notes of roasted coffee, spicy oak, dried fruit and the meaty sweetness of grilled meat. The high alcohol content brings a sharp but beautifully balanced expression, which, with a drop of water, reveals fresh fruitiness – apples, pears – and sweet nuances from wine barrels.
Finish: Long, persistent and unforgettable. The finish brings notes of sea salt, smoked malt, slightly drier oak and the ever-present peat smoke, which grounds and reminds you of Islay's origins.

About the Bruichladdich distillery:
Bruichladdich distillery was founded in 1881 on the west coast of the island of Islay in Scotland. Unlike most of its island neighbors, Bruichladdich originally focused on unpeated single malt whisky – and it was this elegance and delicacy that soon earned it a reputation.
After several years of inactivity, the distillery reopened in 2001 with a clear vision: to produce authentic, bold, and fully traceable whisky from local ingredients. Today, Bruichladdich is known as one of Scotland's most progressive producers – the variety of barley, experiments with different types of casks, and extremely peaty series such as Octomore and Port Charlotte prove that the brand knows how to combine respect for tradition with the courage to innovate.
