Longmorn 18Y Speyside Special Edition is a Scottish single malt whisky from the prestigious Secret Speyside Collection series. It is the youngest member of this range, yet it offers a beautifully matured, smooth, and complex profile that perfectly captures the character of the Longmorn distillery and the elegance of the Speyside region.
Production:
The whisky matures for nearly two decades in ASB – American Standard Barrel-style American oak casks and in hogshead casks. This gives it a juicy, fruity character with notes of tropical fruit, buttery caramel, coconut, and ripe pear. It is bottled at 48% ABV, without chill filtration or coloration, so it retains the natural expression of the casks and a fuller texture.
Tasting Profile:
Nose: A fruity-sweet profile with tropical fruit, caramel, coconut, and a subtle influence of American oak.
Taste: Incredibly smooth, with notes of mango, creamy caramel, coconut flakes, and ripe, juicy pear. The taste is complemented by a subtle touch of oak.
Finish: Amazingly long, sweet, and smooth.
Longmorn 18Y Speyside Special Edition is a whisky for those seeking smoothness, depth, and well-balanced sweetness.
Thanks to its fruity-caramel character, it is ideal for slow sipping neat. It shines best in a Glencairn or tasting glass. It also makes a perfect gift for lovers of authentic Scotch whisky without compromise.
About Longmorn Distillery:
Longmorn Distillery is a Scottish single malt whisky distillery located in Speyside, one of Scotland’s most significant whisky regions. Situated in the Moray area near Elgin, it has long been among the distilleries prized by connoisseurs for its rich, sweetly fruity, and elegant style of whisky.
The distillery was founded by John Duff together with his partners George Thomson and Charles Shirres. Production began in 1894, and Longmorn quickly earned a very good reputation among whisky merchants. The official Chivas Brothers archive notes that the press of the time was already writing about Longmorn as early as 1897 as a whisky that had rapidly won over buyers.
The name Longmorn is often associated with the Gaelic term Lhanmorgund, meaning “place of the holy man,” as the distillery is said to have been built on the site of an old chapel. This historical detail adds a distinctive story to the brand and fits the image of a traditional Scottish distillery with deep roots in Speyside.
Today, Longmorn is part of the portfolio of Chivas Brothers, which belongs to the Pernod Ricard group. The distillery thus remains connected to the world of premium Scotch whisky, and its spirit is used for both single malt releases and select blends.
