Product description

The Botanist Hebridean Strength is a bolder and more concentrated version of The Botanist gin, crafted at the Bruichladdich distillery on the Scottish island of Islay. This exclusive edition features 22 hand-picked island botanicals, whose aromas and flavors are expressed with greater intensity, depth, and texture thanks to the higher alcohol content of 51.5%.

Production:

The gin is produced in individual batches and distilled directly at the Bruichladdich Distillery. The result is an aromatic, full-bodied, and bold gin with a rich mouthfeel, a pronounced juniper base, and a complex herbal character. The higher alcohol content not only adds intensity but also highlights the individual layers of spices, citrus, flowers, and wild plants from Islay. This variant was launched as an exclusive edition for travel retail.

Tasting Profile:

Color: Clear.

Nose: Sweet juniper, cassia, and coriander, followed by citrus freshness. Gradually, mint, wintergreen, wild thyme, and other island herbs emerge.

Taste: Rich, intense, and velvety. Pronounced juniper is complemented by earthy spices, citrus, and complex herbal notes from 22 hand-picked botanical ingredients.

Finish: Very long, strong, and smooth, with notes of delicate juniper, citrus, water mint, wood sage, and clover.

The aroma opens with sweet juniper, cassia, and coriander, followed by citrus freshness. Island herbs gradually unfold, such as water mint, wintergreen, and wild thyme. The taste is velvety, rich, and complex, with pronounced botanical intensity and a long floral-herbal finish.

The Botanist Hebridean Strength is intended primarily for more experienced gin lovers and customers seeking a bolder base for classic cocktails. Thanks to its high strength and viscous texture, it works well in a Dry Martini, Negroni, or a more intense gin & tonic.

About The Botanist:

The Botanist is a Scottish gin brand produced at the historic Bruichladdich Distillery on the island of Islay. Its character is based on the combination of classic gin ingredients with 22 wild botanicals, which are carefully hand-harvested on the island. The brand thus works with the local terroir in much the same way that Bruichladdich approaches its whisky.

The story of The Botanist is linked to the revival of the Bruichladdich Distillery at the beginning of the 21st century. The distillery was originally founded in 1881, but after a period of decline, it was brought back into operation in 2001. During the restoration, a rare Lomond Still was discovered, which became the foundation for the creation of the distinctive island gin The Botanist.

About Bruichladdich Distillery:

Bruichladdich is a distillery located on the shores of Loch Indaal on the island of Islay. It was founded in 1881 and is known today not only for Bruichladdich, Port Charlotte, and Octomore whiskies, but also for The Botanist gin. The distillery emphasizes the origin of its ingredients, its connection to the local landscape, and a transparent approach to production.

In 2020, Bruichladdich became a certified B Corp, thereby confirming its commitment to environmental and social responsibility.
