R. Jelínek Vizovická Plum brandy 2018 Presenta impresses with its full flavour and rich aroma, which is characteristic of quality plum spirits. This single varietal plum brandy is the tenth continuation of the tradition of producing varietal plum brandies from R. Jelínek's own orchards. In 2018, the distillate from the Presenta variety, grown in the U Střelnice orchard, was voted the best by the members of the Friends of Jelínek Plum brandy.
Presenta variety:
Presenta, bred in Stuttgart, Germany, is known for its medium-sized fruit weighing 28-37 g with a typical plum-like elliptical shape. The fruit is dark red to reddish-purple in colour with a distinctive grey-blue skin. Presenta is similar in flavour to the Domestic Plum, but is characterised by a very high sugar content in the ripe fruit. The variety is popular because of its tolerance to scab and sufficient hardiness.
Distillation process and ripening:
Presenta plums are harvested and distilled separately to ensure purity and authenticity of varietal character. After at least one and a half years of maturation, the selected spirit was chosen for bottling as the annual, limited edition Vizovice R. Jelinek Plum brandy together with members of the Friends of Jelinek Slivovitz.
Limited edition:
5,018 bottles were produced in this limited series, each bottle of this unique slivovitz is numbered, which increases its collectible value and underlines the exclusivity of the product. This limited series allows lovers and collectors to enjoy not only the excellent taste, but also a piece of the history and tradition of plum growing and distillation in Vizovice.
About R. Jelinek Plum Orchards:
In the heart of Moravia, precisely in and around Vizovice, there is a vast area of plum orchards. In total, R.Jelínek owns 84 hectares of land, sixty hectares of which are used directly in Těchlov and on Janova Hora. Their growing efforts are constantly expanding, not only in these traditional locations, but also in new areas - in Ludkovice near Luhačovice, Lípa nad Dřevnicí and in the idyllic village of Kostelany.
The beginning of planting our own plum orchards dates back to 2003, when the first trees were planted in Těchlov. Today, the area is home to thousands of plum trees divided into five zones: Nade Dvorem, Nad Statkem, Dolní Menšík, U Studny and U Střelnice. In total, there are more than 23 000 trees of different plum varieties.
Nine varieties have been selected for the production of Vizovice plum brandy, which have proved themselves most successful in these conditions. These are Čačanská lepotica, Stanley, Gabrovská, TopTaste, Presenta, Valjevka, Haganta, Katinka and Čačanská rodná. These varieties have been carefully selected for their specific characteristics, which contribute to the unique character of our plum brandy.
