Sir Edmond Gin, named after Edmond Albius, the 19th century innovator of hand-pollinating vanilla flowers, is the world's first gin infused with Bourbon vanilla from Reunion Island, formerly known as Bourbon Island. This gin is made with respect for traditional practices and a bold spirit that reflects its unusual character.
Production process:
Sir Edmond Gin is produced at the Herman Jansen distillery in the Netherlands using the pot still method. In addition to vanilla from Reunion, which is the key element of this gin, other carefully selected botanicals such as juniper, cardamom, angelica root, ginger and cinnamon from different parts of the world are added. Distillation is followed by an infusion of bourbon vanilla cut into small pieces, which takes 6-8 weeks. This process gives the gin its unique golden sheen and rich vanilla aroma.
Flavour and aroma:
In the mouth, Sir Edmond Gin is velvety smooth with a dominant sweet vanilla flavour that gradually opens up to a spicy finish with hints of cinnamon and ginger. The aroma has a rich vanilla aroma complemented by notes of juniper and earthy angelica.
This gin is great paired with tonic water, as a base for cocktails, or simply on ice cubes for pure enjoyment of its complex flavours.
For every bottle of Sir Edmond Gin sold, the producer donates to the African Wildlife Foundation, which is dedicated to the conservation of wildlife and habitats in Africa.
