The history of Beefeater Gin:

Known for its distinctive flavours and rich history,Beefeater Gin, is one of the most recognised gins in the world. The drink has its roots in London and its evolution is closely linked to changing business and cultural trends.

Key milestones:

  • 1820: Establishment of the Chelsea Distillery on Cale Street, later the first home of Beefeater Gin. This distillery was controlled by the Taylor family who laid the foundations for future success.
  • 1863: Burrough returns to London from Canada and buys the Chelsea Distillery. He begins to produce liqueurs, fruit gins and punches, with the renowned Fortnum and Mason store among his clients.
  • 1908: Beefeater's production moves to Hutton Road in Lambeth, allowing for expansion with more modern distilling equipment. The new distillery retains the Cale Street name as a tribute to its history.
  • 1987: After nearly a century, Beefeater leaves the Burroughs family and is sold to Whitbread.
  • 2005: Global company Pernod Ricard buys the Beefeater brand and invests in its further development.
  • 2018: Desmond Payne, who served as Beefeater's master distiller, is awarded a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) for his contributions to the British gin industry. The accolade came after more than 50 years of his work with gin.

Beefeater Zero 0.0 is a great addition to any home or bar, offering fun and flavour for anyone who wants to enjoy a drink responsibly.
