New from LAHOFER Winery – sparkling wine, cuvée 80% Grüner Veltliner and Müller Thurgau + 20% Pinot varieties, named after its production technology, Charmat.
What is Charmat?
Wine produced using the Charmat or tank method is a sparkling wine where secondary fermentation takes place in a pressurized stainless steel tank, rather than in the bottle, as is the case with classic sparkling wine.
The wine has a fruitier and fresher style and lighter effervescence with larger bubbles. The Charmat method is used for young wines of aromatic varieties. The world's best-known wine produced using the Charmat method is Italian Prosecco.
The method is popular not only from a technological point of view, as it perfectly preserves the delicate, floral and fruity aromas of the varieties used and keeps the resulting wine fresh, crisp and light, but also for its relative speed and lower costs, thanks to which we can enjoy attractive sparkling wines at an affordable price.
And how did the LAHOFER winery cope with these conditions? Definitely great!
Their Charmat has a rich taste with dominant fruity tones of Miller and fresh acidity of Veltliner. The addition of Pinot varieties gives the wine a subtle hint of brioche, butter, citrus, and summer apples with a light mineral finish. A complex yet uncomplicated taste with a touch of sparkling elegance. Ideal for light drinking and summer occasions!
