Piper-Heidsieck Rose Sauvage is a bold, lively, seductive, and fruity rosé champagne that proves elegance can have a daring side. This champagne offers an explosion of flavors, colors, and aromas that harmonize perfectly in a unique experience.
Characteristics:
It is composed of a blend of 50% Pinot Noir (including 15% red wines), 25% Meunier, and 25% Chardonnay, complemented by 25% reserve wines, which give it depth and complexity. The high proportion of red wines gives it a rich scarlet hue and distinctive character that sets it apart from classic rosé champagnes.
Production:
This cuvée is a tribute to craftsmanship and respect for nature. The grapes are harvested by hand when fully ripe, the red wines come mainly from the renowned Les Riceys vineyards, and Piper-Heidsieck emphasizes sustainability and biodiversity. The vineyards are certified Haute Valeur Environnementale (level 3) and Sustainable Viticulture in Champagne, with no herbicides used, mechanical weeding, and flowering cover crops that attract bees and support the natural ecosystem.
Every detail of production has its significance – from slow pressing and static clarification of the juice, through controlled fermentation in stainless steel tanks, to malolactic fermentation, which gives the wine a velvety texture. The blend then ages for at least 24 months on the lees and, after disgorging, for another 3 months to allow all the flavors to blend perfectly.
Tasting profile:
Color: Deep scarlet with copper highlights
Aroma: Rich and intense, full of notes of blood orange, wild strawberries, black cherries, and blackberry jam. Gradually develops delicate licorice and a light smoky veil.
Taste: Full-bodied, fruity, and complex—with lively acidity, juicy red fruit character, and delicate spice notes.
Finish: Long, sensual, and energetic, with a touch of vanilla and fruity warmth.
Pairing:
Piper-Heidsieck Rose Sauvage is a champagne with a gourmet spirit. It pairs perfectly with more distinctive dishes such as sirloin with red onion and brown butter, grilled salmon with lemon and coriander, or red fruit dessert with mint leaves. It also impresses at summer barbecues with grilled vegetables and light herb sauces.
Serving recommendation:
Serve chilled at 8–10 °C in a larger glass to allow all the layers of aroma and flavor to develop. When stored properly, the wine will retain its charm for another 3 years.
Awards:
Piper-Heidsieck Rosé Sauvage is a bold and modern expression of rosé champagne – full of life, character, and unexpected depth. Perfect for those special moments when you want to celebrate life with passion.
History and tradition of Piper-Heidsieck:
Founded in 1785 by Florens-Louis Heidsieck, this house has a long history of seeking to please Queen Marie Antoinette, an ambition that continues to this day. The house boasts a romantic founding story and a long-standing partnership between Christian Heidsieck and Henri-Guillaume Piper, which gave rise to one of the most famous champagne brands.
The winery prides itself on its biodiversity and environmentally friendly technologies, such as zero use of herbicides and an integrated approach to environmental protection. The vineyards are carefully maintained with natural lawns and without the use of chemical sprays.
