Product description

Bache Gabrielsen XO Extra Old is an elegant French cognac with a rich and complex character. It is crafted from distillates of the Ugni Blanc variety, carefully selected by the brand’s cellar master, and aged for at least 10 years in small French oak barrels. This 1-liter bottle is intended primarily for travel retail.

Tasting Profile:

Color: Dark gold to amber.

Aroma: Jasmine, iris, banana, plums, roasted hazelnuts, candied fruit, almonds, and mocha.

Taste: Full-bodied, smooth, and balanced, with fruity and nutty notes, mocha, and an elegant rancio character.

Finish: Long and elegant, with notes of honey, matured wood, and a delicate rancio finish.

Extensive aging brings out a distinctive aromatic complexity without making the cognac seem heavy. The aroma blends floral notes of jasmine and iris with the fruitiness of banana and plums. Gradually, notes of roasted hazelnuts, candied fruit, almonds, and mocha emerge.

The palate is smooth, full-bodied, and concentrated. The fruity and nutty notes are complemented by the delicate character of aged oak and the typical rancio that develops through the cognac’s long aging. The finish is long and elegant, with lingering notes of honey, wood, and dried herbs.

Recommended Serving:

Bache Gabrielsen XO Extra Old is best enjoyed neat at room temperature in a cognac glass. The producer also recommends older XO cognacs as an accompaniment to a strong, high-quality coffee.

About the Bache Gabrielsen Brand:

Bache Gabrielsen is a family-owned cognac house founded in 1905 by Norwegian-born Thomas Bache Gabrielsen. He arrived in Cognac, France, in 1903 and, two years later, together with Peter Rustad, took over the historic cognac house A. Edmond Dupuy. Today, the brand spans four generations of the family and draws on a combination of French cognac craftsmanship and Scandinavian roots.
