Product description

Jameson was born in 1780 thanks to the distiller John Jameson, who created his triple distilled, smooth and perfectly balanced Irish whiskey. Today, they continue his tradition by ensuring that Jameson whiskey is still as perfect as the day John Jameson shipped the first cask. It's not easy, but they want to make sure every sip of this whiskey is worth it.
At the beginning of the 19th century, the Jameson distillery became the second largest producer of whiskey in Ireland, but at the beginning of the 20th century, two events dealt a blow to the distillery - the announcement of prohibition in the USA and the independence of Ireland, which limited exports to the countries of the British Empire. Jameson was one of the four distilleries that survived this crisis and subsequently merged into the Irish Distillers Group in 1966. In 1975, whiskey production moved from the original Jameson Distillery in Dublin to the new Midleton Distillery in Cork. Today, Jameson is the best-selling Irish whiskey in the world.
Jameson Black Barrel (originally Select Reserve) was introduced in 2012 as a successor to Jameson 12yo. This whiskey is named after being aged in double-fired bourbon casks, which give it its characteristic woody, spicy and vanilla notes, and in sherry casks, which soften these notes. Black Barrel contains a significant proportion of pot still whiskey and a small proportion of unique sweet grain whiskey. Alcohol content 40%.
Additional information
Taste: Fruity sweetness from the grain component, waves of vanilla, charred wood and fine spices from pot still whiskey and burnt barrels pass through it.
Aroma: Rich and full, developing into the juicy sweetness of exotic fruits such as nectarines, apricots and papaya.
Color: Dark gold with copper highlights.
Black Barrel matures in twice-fired barrels, i.e. even after emptying after bourbon, the barrels are tanned again. More sweet notes.
SERVING
It is best served neat in tasting glasses, or old-fashioned low whiskey glasses (tumbler).
