Product description

Guigal Gigondas Red is a robust and generous red wine that is the culmination of the endless and detailed care of Marcel and Philippe Guigal, who oversee the selection and blending on a daily basis to guarantee the consistency and perfection that defines the great Rhone Valley. It represents the essence of the family heritage and commitment to excellence that characterises the Guigal winery.

Made up of 70% Grenache, 20% Syrah and 10% Mourvèdre, Gigondas Red is a perfect symphony of flavour harmony, representing the true essence of the Southern Rhône.

With an average age of 40 years, each vine contributes a richness and complexity that is reflected in every bottle of this extraordinary wine.

Gigondas Red is made using the traditional method with a long maceration followed by two years of ageing in oak barrels, half of which are new wood, giving the wine its exceptional structure and depth.

With an annual production of approximately 120,000 bottles, each bottle of this wine is a valuable contribution to the winemaking tradition. The wine has a savoury profile with a soft tannic structure that is both powerful and well-structured. The optimum temperature for serving this exceptional wine is between 16 °C and 18 °C, allowing its complex aromas and flavours to develop fully.

With the potential to age for up to 10 years, Guigal Gigondas is a wine that will only improve with time, developing new layers of flavour and aroma.

The perfect companion to red meat, game and fine cheeses, Guigal Gigondas is the ideal choice for those looking for a wine to complement and enhance the flavours of their favourite dishes.

Aroma : Intense aromas dominated by peaches and apricots with licorice and underbrush notes

Taste : Generous, powerful and full-bodied with a long, elegant finish

The foundations of Guigal were laid in 1946 by Etienne Guigal in Ampuis, a picturesque and historically rich village at the heart of the Côte-Rôtie appellation. Here, in a landscape where the tradition of viticulture stretches back more than 2,400 years, Etienne Guigal began to write the first chapter of a story that has become synonymous with the highest quality and family heritage in the Rhone Valley.

In 1961, Marcel Guigal, Etienne's son, took over the family leadership and, together with his wife Bernadette, began to expand the vision and horizons of the estate. With the birth of their son Philippe in 1975, a third generation joined the family tradition and today heads the domain with an unwavering commitment to tradition, innovation and excellence.

From the small cellars where Etienne Guigal started, the domaine has grown into 3 hectares of cellars and galleries that are home to barrels, oak and stainless steel vats, preserving the history and soul of the Guigal family.
