Product description

Cragganmore 43 Year Old is an exceptionally rare Speyside Single Malt Scotch Whisky and, at the time, was the oldest officially bottled Cragganmore whisky. It was distilled on July 12, 1971 and, after 43 years of aging, bottled in 2015 at a natural cask strength of 47.4%. Only 474 bottles were produced from a single cask, all of which were reserved exclusively for Dubai Duty Free.

For a full 43 years, the whisky matured in a single European oak sherry butt, cask No. 2300—a large European oak cask previously used for sherry. The whisky was bottled as a single cask, without chill filtration or color addition.

The long maturation has created a concentrated, dry, and complex profile that blends rich dried fruit, citrus zest, caramelized notes, dark chocolate, and mature oak.

Tasting Profile:

Color: Deep amber to mahogany, achieved through long maturation in an oak cask.

Aroma: Rich and complex with notes of sultanas, orange peel, dates, and almonds. These are complemented by caramel, burnt sugar, and subtle vanilla.

Taste: Full-bodied, dry, and intense, with rich fruit, dark chocolate, and a pronounced yet elegantly integrated influence from long aging in oak.

Finish: Dry, warm, and very long.

Design and Collector’s Packaging:

The bottle comes in a luxurious black presentation box featuring golden radiating lines and a prominent 43 Years label. The bottle itself bears an individual number out of a total of 474 bottles.

About the Cragganmore Distillery:

Cragganmore was founded in 1869 by John “Big John” Smith near Ballindalloch in Speyside. He chose the location for its high-quality water source and immediate proximity to the Strathspey Railway. As a result, Cragganmore became the first distillery in Speyside to specifically use the railroad for transporting raw materials and shipping whisky.

The Cragganmore style is characterized by a complex and layered profile, influenced by lightly peated malt, a long fermentation process, and unusually shaped short stills with flat tops. The distillery is now owned by Diageo, and its whiskey is also an important component of the Old Parr blend.
