Black Velvet Original is a smooth Canadian whiskey made from a blend of corn, rye, and barley. The brand is characterized by a technology known as Blended at Birth™, in which the individual components of the whiskey are blended together before the final maturation phase. The blend is then aged in bourbon barrels for at least three years, which contributes to its smooth and balanced character.

Black Velvet offers a pleasantly sweet profile, blending notes of caramel, vanilla, and coconut with the subtle spiciness of rye. Thanks to its smoothness, it is suitable for sipping on its own as well as in simple mixed drinks and classic whiskey cocktails.

About Black Velvet:

The history of Black Velvet began in Canada in 1951. The whiskey was originally named Black Label, but after tasting it, master distiller Jack Napier renamed it based on its characteristically smooth, “velvety” profile. It was this smoothness that subsequently became the brand’s defining characteristic.
