Product description

Metaxa Private Reserve is the most refined expression in the brand's portfolio, produced only once a year from a single batch. It is a blend of the finest wine distillates, muscat wines from the mountain vineyards of Samos, and Mediterranean herbs, which combine to create an elegant, complex, and deeply fruity composition.

Each bottle is created under the supervision of the Metaxa Master, who selects the blend at its peak – the moment when it achieves the perfect balance between maturity, dryness, and fruity depth.

Tasting profile:

Color: Intense amber with copper highlights.

Aroma: Dried apricots, plums, and black raisins, complemented by notes of honey and light spices.

Taste: Rich and elegant, with dominant raisins, caramel and a hint of sweet pepper, creating a distinctive yet smooth expression.

Finish: Very long, warm and satisfying, with an aftertaste of dried fruit and delicate spices.

Serving:

Metaxa Private Reserve is a drink for the most special moments – ideal for sipping slowly during long evenings and inspiring conversations. Enjoy it neat or on the rocks to fully develop its multi-layered flavor and aroma.

Metaxa history:

The story of Metaxa begins in 1848, when Spyros Metaxa was born on the island of Euboea in Greece. From a young age, he showed a passion for adventure and innovation, which inspired him to create an entirely new type of drink.

At the age of 40 (1888), Spyros Metaxa realised his visionary idea and created the original Greek liqueur, which later acquired the name Metaxa. His aim was to create a liqueur that was both smooth and intense, offering a real journey through the senses. This drink quickly became popular not only in Greece but also in the rest of the world.

With its growing popularity and the need to expand production, Metaxa distillery moved from its original location in Piraeus to Kifissia, beginning a new era in the brand's history. This move allowed Metaxa to increase its production capacity and further develop its international presence.

At the turn of the millennium, specifically in 2000, Metaxa became part of the prestigious Remy Cointreau group. This merger brought further international expansion to the Metaxa brand and allowed for further innovation in production and marketing.
