Bobby’s Schiedam Dry Gin is a distinctive Dutch gin that blends the traditional distilling craftsmanship of the city of Schiedam with bold Indonesian spices. The brand describes this fusion as a combination of “Dutch Courage” and “Indonesian Spirit”—a bridge of flavors between the West and the East.

The recipe is based on the family legacy of Jacobus “Bobby” Alfons, who was born on the Indonesian island of Ambon and, after moving to the Netherlands, developed a fondness for local jenever. However, he missed the flavors of home, so he began enriching it with his own blend of Indonesian spices, Pinang Raci.

Botanicals:

Bobby’s Schiedam Dry Gin combines classic gin botanicals, such as juniper, coriander, fennel, and rose hips, with Indonesian ingredients like lemongrass, cloves, cinnamon, and cubeb pepper. The individual botanicals are distilled separately and then blended to create the final gin. No sugars, additional extracts, or additives are added during production.

The result is an aromatic and spicy gin with pronounced citrus freshness, lively juniper, floral notes, and warming spices.

The traditional European shape is complemented by a distinctive Indonesian ikat pattern, inspired by traditional weaving techniques.

Bobby’s is a Dutch spirits brand inspired by the story of Jacobus “Bobby” Alfons, who was born in Indonesia and later lived in the Netherlands. His family recipe for Pinang Raci, based on aromatic herbs and spices, became the foundation for creating modern spirits that bridge East and West.

Bobby’s spirits are produced at the Herman Jansen distillery in Schiedam, the Netherlands. The descendants of Jacob Alfons have teamed up with the best in the industry to create a product of the highest quality. Herman Jansen is a traditional family-run jenever distillery that has been in operation since 1777. It is one of the oldest distilleries in the Netherlands, where seven generations have dedicated their lives to producing products rooted in authenticity and quality.

After approximately two years of development, Bobby’s Schiedam Dry Gin was launched in 2014. Bobby’s Jenever followed in 2016, combining traditional Dutch malt distillate with juniper and Indonesian botanicals. The portfolio was later expanded with additional limited-edition and spiced releases.
