Glenfiddich Fire & Cane is an unconventional single malt Scotch whiskey from Speyside and the fourth addition to Glenfiddich’s Experimental Series. It is created by blending peaty whiskey with Glenfiddich’s typically fruity and smoother distillates, which have been aged in bourbon barrels. The resulting blend is then finished in casks previously used for Latin American rum, which add another layer of caramel sweetness.

Maturation:

The whisky combines peaty and unpeated distillates, some of which were matured in ex-bourbon barrels. The final maturation takes place in ex-Latin American rum barrels, which highlight notes of toffee, caramel, and sweeter fruit.

Tasting Profile:

Color: Golden.

Aroma: Subtle peaty smoke, sweet toffee, fresh fruit, and light spices.

Taste: Campfire smoke, oak, caramel, green fruit, and sweet baked apple.

Finish: Long, with lingering smokiness and sweetness.

It is precisely the contrast between smoke and sweetness that gives this whiskey its distinctive style. The aroma features subtle peat smoke reminiscent of a distant fire, rich toffee, fresh fruit, and light spice. The taste is more pronounced, with notes of campfire, oak, caramel, green fruit, and baked apples. The smoke here is neither heavy nor medicinal, but comes across as soft and fits well with the sweeter Speyside character.
