Product description
After a warm March, the April frosts came, but without major consequences. Such an alternation of warm and cold weather during the spring resulted in alternating periods of rapid and slow growth. The weather (rain and cold temperatures) that prevailed when the vines flowered was not ideal and led to mild forms of the condition known as couture (flowers that do not develop into grapes) and millerandage (abnormally small grapes). During the first ten days of August, the hot sun caused grillage (a type of dehydration) for the first time in living memory of winemakers from this area. Heavy rains in the first half of September brought an increase in grape size and caused a slight outbreak of botrytis. Patience was rewarded when a sunny second half of the month allowed for further ripening.
The color remains clear and bright, with slight shades of golden yellow.
The aroma immediately reveals the ripeness of the wine with notes of warm brioche, beeswax, acacia honey and calisson. The fruity taste is manifested by notes of candied pear, white peach and orange. Complexity is enhanced by the floral scent of jasmine and linden tea.
A sense of coherence and precision prevails and persists on the palate. The first impression is flexible, the texture is light and airy like a silk veil. The aftertaste is tense and lingers in notes of grapefruit, star anise and mint.
