Product description

The limited edition Don Papa Port Cask was created to commemorate the 500th anniversary of the discovery of the Philippines. In 1519, Fernão de Magalhães embarked on an epic voyage - the first circumnavigation of the world. In 1521, he approached a majestic archipelago that did not yet exist on maps. It was the Philippines. 500 years had passed since Fernão de Magalhães' voyage and the first Spanish landing in the Philippines. To celebrate this momentous anniversary, Philippine premium rum brand Don Papa has launched a limited edition Don Papa Port Cask.

The rum, from the Philippine island of Negros, where one of the world's sweetest sugarcane grows, was first aged for two years in bourbon barrels. It was then stored for a further five years in ruby-coloured port wine casks. The result is an exquisite rum with a dark, spicy character and a warm, lingering fruitiness. Deep notes of liquorice, dark chocolate and cane sugar followed by tangy blood oranges, ripe red berries and a subtle hint of fresh vanilla give this rum a unique flavour profile.

In addition to its taste and aroma, the limited edition Don Papa Port Cask also impresses with its traditional perfectly crafted packaging. The surreal design reflects aspects of Magalhães' odyssey, the rigours of the unknown waters the expedition faced and the exotic flora and fauna the crew encountered for the first time in the Philippines
