Product description

Dictador Libreto AO 1996 is an exceptional vintage rum from the exclusive Dictador Vintages collection, created under the guidance of master blender Hernán Parry. The name Libreto refers to a small opera libretto and symbolizes the carefully crafted symphony of flavors that gradually unfolds in this rum. This is a rum for connoisseurs, collectors, and anyone seeking a long-aged spirit with remarkable depth and a distinctive character.

Characteristics:

This 1996 vintage aged for a total of 26 years in American oak barrels and acquired its final character through finishing in port and sherry casks. The result is a complex and elegant rum that blends sweet, spicy, fruity, and slightly woody notes into a very harmonious whole.

Tasting Profile:

Nose: Creamy lemonade, strongly steeped black tea, sweet smoked bacon, freshly cut oak, lychee, a hint of guava.

Palate: Saffron buns, cinnamon, cardamom, freshly baked sugar doughnuts, toasted marshmallow, milk chocolate, hints of oak.

Finish: Ginger, oak-vanilla spice.

Dictador Libreto AO 1996 is a rum with a distinctly layered and unusual profile that reflects both its long aging and the Parra family’s signature style. It offers a rich, elegant, and collector’s-worthy experience that truly shines when sipped slowly on its own.

About the Dictador brand:

Dictador was born in Colombia, a country famous not only for its coffee but also for its ideal climate for rum maturation. The result is a rum that appeals to collectors, lovers of rare editions, and lovers of sophisticated flavors.

The Dictador brand draws inspiration from Sever Arangoy, nicknamed "El Dictador," a Spanish official who oversaw the rum trade in Cartagena de Indias, the commercial center of the Spanish colonial empire in the 18th century. The brand is named after him, and this is where the story of Dictador as a rum with authority began.

The modern era of Dictador began in 1913, when the family business of the same name was officially founded. Since then, Dictador rum has been produced with an emphasis on precision, craftsmanship, and long aging, now led by renowned master blender Hernan Parra, who is the third generation of the Parra rum family.
