Ford's London Dry Gin is an iconic cocktail London Dry Gin, created through a collaboration between legends of the bar scene and a master distiller with a deep family heritage. Founder Simon Ford, a long-time spirits expert, decided to create a gin that would be perfectly balanced for all classic cocktails. Together with renowned distiller Charles Maxwell from Thames Distillery and top bartenders, they searched for the ideal recipe. It took 83 attempts to get it right.
Distillation and botanical composition:
Ford's London Dry Gin is produced using the classic maceration method: nine botanical ingredients are macerated for 15 hours in copper stills (Tom Thumb and Thumbelina), creating a full, aromatic and viscous base. This is followed by a 5-hour distillation and final dilution with pure spring water in Scotland.
The botanicals come from different parts of the world and are sourced by the renowned Joseph Flach & Sons (since 1882). The nine ingredients include juniper, coriander, angelica, orange and lemon peel, orris root, cassia, licorice, and gentian.
Bottle design:
Ford's London Dry Gin is gaining popularity not only for its taste but also for the practical design of its bottle, which was designed based on feedback from bartenders. It has an ergonomic shape, marked measurements for easy pouring, and a shape for better grip – it is a true bartender's tool.
Ford's London Dry Gin is a gin for those who love cocktails – whether professionally or at home.
About Thames Distillers:
Thames Distillers is a London-based family distillery with deep roots in the history of English distillation. The company was founded in 1996 by master distiller Charles Maxwell, continuing a tradition dating back more than 300 years to 1681, when his great-grandfather George Bishop became an apprentice distiller in the City of London.
Thames Distillers is known as the only independent producer and bottler of London Dry Gin in London until the turn of the millennium. It also specializes in contract distilling, i.e., the production of gin to order, and has been involved in the creation of a number of prestigious brands around the world.
Today, the 11th generation of distillers from the Maxwell-Bishop family, George and Eloise, the children of Charles Maxwell, have actively joined the company, further strengthening the legacy of their ancestors.
