About Costa Coffee:

Costa Coffee is now the most popular coffee chain in the UK and one of the most famous coffee brands in the world. However, its story began modestly in 1971 in London, where brothers Sergio and Bruno Costa founded a small roastery on Fenchurch Street with the aim of offering the highest quality coffee.

The Costa brothers tasted 112 coffee samples before creating their legendary Signature Blend, named Mocha Italia. This became the cornerstone of the brand and remains Costa Coffee's flagship blend to this day. With demand growing, the company moved to a new roastery on Old Paradise Street in Lambeth in 1978, where it operated until 2017.

In 1981, the brothers opened the first Costa Coffee café on Bridge Road in Vauxhall. They were the first in London to offer espresso and cappuccino in porcelain cups, setting a new standard for quality coffee culture. They soon began opening more cafés in prestigious locations, and Costa became a favorite meeting place for modern Londoners.
