Monkey 47 Dry Gin Distiller’s Cut 2025 is a limited edition that pushes the boundaries of what gin can offer every year. For 2025, it comes with an unusual and very imaginative 48th ingredient – fleur de sel, fine sea salt crystals from Camargue in southern France. The result is a dry gin with a distinctive character that combines elegance, spiciness, and a subtle salty accent into an exceptionally complex whole.
Characteristics:
This edition is like a taste of the sunny south – it has a hint of sun-kissed warmth and a subtle breeze of salty sea air. Nevertheless, the gin retains the typical depth and substance that are characteristic of Monkey 47. Fleur de sel does not interfere, but rather adds an original, noble and perfectly balanced dimension to the taste.
Tasting profile:
Color: Clear
Aroma: Elegant, dry, with a hint of sun-kissed warmth and a subtle sea accent.
Taste: Spicy, dry, complex, with a subtle salty tone of fleur de sel.
Finish: Long, balanced, sophisticated.
About the Monkey 47 brand:
Monkey 47 is a premium German gin brand from the Black Forest (Schwarzwald), known for its exceptional complexity and signature style based on 47 hand-picked botanicals and very soft spring water from the region.
The story behind the brand is based on the legend of Montgomery Collins, a British officer who moved to the Black Forest after the war, opened the Zum wilden Affen guesthouse, and laid the foundation for the recipe for the unusual Black Forest gin; the "47" motif refers both to the number of botanicals and to the year 1947, which is associated with this story.
The gin itself is produced at The Wild Monkey Distillery in the Black Forest, and the brand is based on batch distillation, a craft approach, and a typical combination of juniper, citrus, floral notes, spices, and subtle fruitiness.
The producer is Black Forest Distillers, and since 2016, Monkey 47 has been part of the Pernod Ricard group, which acquired a majority stake at that time and later purchased the remaining shares.
