Bacardi Superior is the flagship of Bacardi. Everything started in 1862. In this year the founder Don Facundo Bacardi purchased the land in Cuba and built there a distillery. This way he changed the style of drinking rum in the world. Thanks to pioneering filtration of coal and purposeful aging process Bacardi created white rum, which determined a new standard for flavor and balance. However, there were some troubles. Due to the Cuban revolution Bacardi was forced to leave Cuba and today the “Cathedral of rum” is in Puerto Rico.
Thanks to unique balance and mild flavor Bacardi Superior can be nicely combined with mint or lime without being too strong in the cocktail. That means it’s ideal for mojito or Cuba Libre, but without the overpowering taste of alcohol. The reason for this wonderful harmony consists in the undertones of rum – aroma of citruses, coriander and ginger. Every batch of white rum Bacardi gets these flavors thanks to the highest-quality ingredients, including sugar cane and yeasts, which can be found only in the Caribbean.
The symbol of Bacardi is a fruit bat, which supposedly lived in the attic of the first Bacardi’s distillery.
