Beefeater is a premium gin that is one of the few gins still distilled using the original method in the heart of London. It is produced using the steeping method - a twenty-four-hour maceration of herbs in grain distillate and subsequent distillation. It got its name from the legend associated with the guards of the Tower (today's fortress that houses the crown jewels of the British royal family), nicknamed "Beefeaters". As these guardians are a great tradition of London, as well as Beefeater gin, their symbol is depicted on every bottle of Beefeater gin. Beefeater gin is still produced according to the original recipe from the 1870s at the Beefeater Distillery under the supervision of the experienced Master Distiller, Desmond Payne.
