Sudlička Plum is an authentic Moravian plum brandy made from carefully selected, fully ripe plums. Every step of the production process is focused on preserving the natural character of the fruit and achieving a full, harmonious flavor.
Traditional production without compromise:
After harvesting, the plums are thoroughly sorted so that only the highest quality and sweetest fruit is used for fermentation. Processing is carried out using a spindle pump, which grinds the fruit into a pulp without damaging the stones. It is precisely the preservation of the stones during fermentation that contributes to the typical delicate almond tones in the final distillate.
Fermentation takes place without air access in fermentation vats for a minimum of 60 days. This process is key to developing a full aroma and pure fruit expression. Approximately 9–13 kg of plums are needed to produce 1 liter of fruit brandy, which underscores the emphasis on quality and concentration of raw materials.
Taste profile:
The resulting slivovice offers a fuller flavor, a pleasant aroma of ripe plums, and a light almond finish. Ideal for serving at room temperature, recommended storage is between 10–18 °C.
Sudlička Plum is an authentic fruit brandy for those who appreciate traditional methods and the distinctive character of genuine plum distillation.
Sudlička Distillery:
Sudlička brandy and its history date back to ancient times, when an old farmstead, which once served as a yeoman's fortress, protected the busy trade route to Potštejn Castle from robbers. Matěj Sudlička breathed new life into this place by starting the first fruit distillation. This step marked the beginning of a long tradition that has continued to develop over the years.
Historical milestones:
1918: The Čižmář family buys the estate and continues the farming tradition of the place.
1998: The current owner, Igor Čižmář, revives fruit distillation, reigniting the flames of traditional production in Sudličkova Lhota.
2006: Purchase of a distillery in Hrobice, where Igor Čižmář revives and modernizes the production of fruit distillates and liqueurs, continuing a 120-year history and tradition.
