Sudlička Pear is an excellent fruit distillate with an alcohol content of 50%, made from carefully selected and fully ripe pears from the Polabská nížina lowlands. This pear brandy is one of the traditional Czech spirits and stands out for its distinctive aroma and pleasant, full strength.
High-quality raw materials as a basis:
Only well-ripened pears with sufficient sugar and aromatic substances are selected for production. Early varieties are not used so that the resulting distillate is rich in flavor and naturally fruity.
After harvesting, the pears are crushed in a large-capacity grinder and then ground into a fine pulp using a screw pump. Fermentation takes place for at least 60 days without access to air, which is a key phase for transferring the typical aromatic tones to the distillate. It is this process that gives pear brandy its characteristic purity and intensity.
Taste profile:
Approximately 10–14 kg of pears are needed to produce 1 liter of 50% brandy, depending on their sugar content. The result is a harmonious, aromatic pear brandy with a long and warm finish, suitable as a festive toast or as a distinctive digestif.
Sudlička Distillery:
Sudlička brandy and its history date back to ancient times, when an old farmstead, which once served as a yeoman's fortress, protected the busy trade route to Potštejn Castle from robbers. Matěj Sudlička breathed new life into this place by starting the first fruit distillation. This step marked the beginning of a long tradition that has continued to develop over the years.
Historical milestones:
1918: The Čižmář family buys the estate and continues the farming tradition of the place.
1998: The current owner, Igor Čižmář, revives fruit distillation, reigniting the flames of traditional production in Sudličkova Lhota.
2006: Purchase of a distillery in Hrobice, where Igor Čižmář revives and modernizes the production of fruit distillates and liqueurs, continuing a 120-year history and tradition.
