Cachaça Magnífica Reserva Soleira is a mature Brazilian cachaça that demonstrates why this category deserves attention even outside of Brazil. Although it has much in common with rum, it is made directly from freshly pressed sugarcane juice, which gives it its own character and a distinct flavor profile. This edition is aged using the solera system, and the resulting blend contains cachaças aged 6 to 15 years, offering a rich, smooth, and elegant profile.
Production:
Cachaça Magnífica Reserva Soleira is produced about 100 km from Rio de Janeiro in an environment with clean air and water at an altitude of 800 m above sea level. The sugarcane comes from the producer’s own plantations and is harvested by hand. Immediately after harvest, it is pressed using a century-old steam engine that burns the leftover sugarcane pulp as fuel. Fermentation occurs naturally through the action of wild yeast and local microorganisms, and distillation takes place in a traditional triple-pot still called Alegria. For aging, barrels made of Brazilian ipê wood and American oak barrels previously used for bourbon are used.

Cachaça Magnífica Reserva Soleira has repeatedly ranked among the best in the prestigious Brazilian competition Cúpula de Cachaça and also succeeded at the ShowRum Tasting Competition in Italy, where it won the title of Best in class aged cachaça in 2016, 2017, 2018, and 2019.
About the Brand:
The Cachaça Magnífica brand was founded in 1985 by João Luiz de Faria. The name refers to his wife, who served as rector of a university in Rio de Janeiro, and is thus a tribute to her. João Luiz de Faria also played a significant role in shaping the legislation surrounding cachaça and in the development of this category in Brazil. Today, his sons Raul and Ana Luiz continue his work.
