Tasting Profile:

Aroma: A soft and sweet opening with hints of caramel, vanilla, cocoa and butterscotch, followed by rich notes of sherry, caramelized Brazil nuts and hazelnuts, with hints of caramel, banana and dried pineapple.

Palate: complex and generous, starting with dried fruits and apricots, moving into spicy oak, nutmeg, leather and tobacco with notes of coffee and vanilla, balanced by a spicy touch of cinnamon and ginger.

Finish: Lingering with hints of honey butter, spicy oak and dried fruit.

Zacapa 23Y is the masterpiece of Lorena Vásquez, one of the few women at the forefront of spirit blending. Her more than 35 years of experience and her sensitive approach to rum making guarantee the highest quality.

Unlike most rums made from molasses, Zacapa uses the first pressing of sugar cane, resulting in a richer and more intense flavour. Fermentation with pineapple yeast gives the rum a unique aroma and profile.

Zacapa is deeply rooted in Guatemalan culture and community. All bottling and distribution of the rum takes place at Mixco's Guatemala facility, allowing the company to maintain close ties with local communities and support the local economy.

History:

Zacapa was originally created in 1976 to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Zacapa, a town rich in history and culture, and refers to its Aztec name, which means "on the river of grass."
