Product description

Žufánek Apple – or Czech calvados, if you will – from the family distillery Žufánek s.r.o. is made from carefully selected Czech apples of the Rubín and Melodie varieties.

This spirit restores apple brandy to its former glory – proving that with high-quality raw materials and precise distillation, it can offer a pure, elegant, and full-bodied taste experience.

Production:

The first batch was produced in 2017, symbolically during a period of very poor apple harvests. It was precisely the emphasis on the value and quality of the fruit that was the key impetus for production. Only a few hundred liters were produced – some of which was stored in oak barrels, while the rest was bottled in its pure form to bring out the authentic aroma of the apples.

Tasting profile:

Aroma: The aroma is dominated by a fresh, natural apple tone without any distracting elements.

Taste: Delicate, clean, with a light fruity sweetness and balanced structure. The finish is dry, elegant, and long.

Serving:

The ideal serving temperature is 12–18 °C. Excessive cooling would suppress the delicate aroma and texture of the distillate.

Žufánek Apple is proof that even traditional Czech apple distillate can offer a modern, refined, and serious flavor profile.

About the Žufánek distillery:

The family-owned distillery ŽUFÁNEK s.r.o. was founded in 2000 by Marcela and Josef Žufánek together with their sons Martin, Josef, and Jan. It is located in Boršice u Blatnice near Uherské Hradiště, at the foot of the Bílé Karpaty protected landscape area – a region with an ideal microclimate for growing fruit.

The basis of production is the distillery's own 15-hectare orchard, which is run according to organic farming principles. Eight varieties of plums (such as Čačanská, Stanley, and Anna Späth), Williams pears, greengages, and Oblačinská sour cherries are grown here. The orchards are also gradually being expanded to include aromatic and medicinal herbs, which are mainly used in the production of gins and absinthes.

The heart of the distillery is a modern distillery with four 300-liter distillation columns. In addition to traditional boilers from Destila Brno, the distillery also uses state-of-the-art technology from the German brand Arnold Holstein, which allows for maximum preservation of the aromatic substances and character of the distilled fruit.
