Product description

Takamaka Rum Extra Noir from the St. André series is a unique rum representing the essence of true craftsmanship and passion for rum making, reflecting the rich tradition and culture of the Seychelles.

Takamaka Rum Extra Noir is created from a carefully selected blend of molasses rum that has been distilled using traditional methods in both pot and column stills. This rum is then aged in selected French oak barrels, soaking up its distinctive notes, and then pressed from exclusive French and ex-Bourbon wood, giving it a unique flavour and aroma.

The culmination of its production process is a 60-day rest in French cane rum barrels, which completes its full and penetrating profile. Extra Noir retains its high ester content, spicy nuances from the French oak and delicious notes of vanilla along with sweet notes from the former bourbon.

Its authenticity is enhanced by the fact that it is bottled without any added sugar, is unfiltered and offers an alcohol content of 43%. Its robust flavour and aroma make Takamaka Rum Extra Noir the ideal companion for making important and rich highball cocktails that will please even the most discerning rum connoisseur.

In 2000, inspired by the family tradition and his grandfather's skill in making Creole Arrangé Rum, Bernard and his father Robert set out to produce a quality rum. With improvised tools, including a swimming pool as a cooling tower and commonly available ingredients, they began experimenting at home. After a year of testing and development, joined by Bernard's older brother Richard, they founded Trois Frères Distillery in the Seychelles in February 2002. Overcoming the challenges of remoteness and harnessing their curiosity, the brothers perfected the production of rum, which has become not only a symbol of their family heritage but also an expression of their approach to life and work.
