Redbreast is the finest whiskey of its kind, a multiple award-winning single pot still whiskey that dates back to 1903. It is produced at the Midleton distillery from a blend of malted and unmalted barley, where it is then triple distilled in traditional copper pot stills. The use of unmalted barley, typical of Irish whiskey production since the 18th century, and an ageing period of at least 12 years, mainly in Sherry Oloroso casks, give it its typical character and exceptionally full flavour.
Redbreast 12yo represents the Irish speciality Single Pot Still Irish Whiskey. The raw material is malted and unmalted barley (this combination of grains is not allowed in Scotland). This whiskey is produced by triple periodic (fractional) distillation in copper pot stills and spent 12 years in sherry and bourbon casks. Redbreast has a full complex flavour with a long lingering finish.
Flavour: Honeyed, sweet and spicy pot still whiskey. Hints of oak. The fullness of its flavour is enhanced by maturation in Spanish Sherry Oloroso casks.
Nose: Complex spicy and fruity aroma with strong oak notes.
Colour: Bright gold.
Serve neat in tasting, or speyside or glencairn glasses.
Producer's address: Midleton Distillery, Midleton Co. Cork, IE
