About the Redbreast brand:
Redbreast is one of the most respected Irish whiskey brands, with a history dating back to the 19th century. It is an icon of the traditional Irish Single Pot Still style, which is a unique combination of malted and unmalted barley distilled in copper pot stills.
The Redbreast brand was created by W\&A Gilbey, a Dublin wine and spirits merchant who began importing barrels of Irish whiskey from the Midleton Distillery in 1857 and aging them in his own warehouses. The Gilbeys were known for selecting only the best whiskey for their customers, and it was from this selection that Redbreast was born.
The first bottle under the name Redbreast was launched in 1912. The name refers to the redbreast, which was loved by the then director of Gilbey's, a passionate ornithologist. Since then, the redbreast has become the symbol of the brand and a faithful companion to all bottles of Redbreast.
Unlike many other brands that disappeared during the 20th century, Redbreast survived the Irish whiskey slump thanks to its quality and consumer loyalty. Production was moved entirely to the Midleton Distillery, where the original style and recipe have been preserved under the guidance of Irish Distillers.
