Product description

Champagne Pommery Grand Cru Brut 2009 is a great example of how nature can work with the winemaker to create something truly exceptional. Described as a 'gift from the gods', 2009 provided ideal conditions for the ripening of the grapes, which were characterised by incredible health and balance.

Tasting profile:

Colour: The light golden colour with subtle golden highlights perfectly reflects the ripeness and elegance of the champagne. The shine and fine effervescence are a sign of high quality.

Nose: Opening floral and sweet notes, reminiscent of honeysuckle and acacia blossom, gradually open up to richer nuances of dried fig and frangipane, creating a complex and enticing olfactory experience.

Taste: The velvety texture of this Champagne is reminiscent of the chalk characteristic of the Champagne region, with a perfectly balanced minerality. The overall harmony of flavours guarantees an exceptional tasting experience.

Food pairing recommendations:

Champagne Pommery Grand Cru Brut 2009 is a great match for selected white meat dishes such as Chicken Bresse with Combavou, where its structure and flavours can elegantly complement the finesse and sophistication of the dish.

Serving temperature: The optimum serving temperature for this champagne is 8-10 °C, allowing its aromas and flavours to develop fully.

Sulphite content: It is important to be aware of the presence of sulphites, which can affect people with allergies.

About the Pommery brand:

Pommery, the icon of Champagne, has a rich history and tradition that dates back to 1858 when Madame Pommery took over after the death of her husband. In 1874, she revolutionised the champagne world by creating the first brut champagne, Pommery Nature, breaking with the tradition of very sweet wines and heralding a new direction in champagne production to meet the growing demand for 'dry' wines.

Madame Pommery decided to invest in a unique environment to age her wines, and so in 1868 she began the transformation of the chalk quarries of Reims into monumental cellars. This gigantic construction project was carried out with the help of French and Belgian miners and resulted in a giant underground city with beautifully decorated galleries and a monumental staircase.

The production of Pommery Champagne is carefully managed from the selection of the grapes to the maturation in the cellar, ensuring high quality and a distinctive style. Each Champagne, such as the Brut Royal, is a blend of nearly forty different vintages, while the vintage Cuvée Louise is made from three grands crus, the finest of Pommery's range.

Pommery is also committed to sustainable production, as reflected by its dual certification as a "Sustainable Champagne Winery" and "High Environmental Value". These certifications underline its commitment to environmental protection and sustainability in winemaking.

Champagne Pommery Grand Cru Brut 2009 is not only a testament to an outstanding vintage, but also to the art of the Champagne house of Pommery to create exceptional wines that reflect the essence of their origin and history.
