Austrian Empire Navy Rum Malt Whisky Cask Finish is part of the prestigious Double Cask Collection and is created by carefully blending mature Dominican rums, which are aged for up to 21 years using the Solera method and then stored in Scottish single malt whisky casks, where they mature for another 12 to 16 months.
Characteristics:
This unique combination results in a rum that is not only rich, but also exceptionally smooth, elegant, and layered. The barrels in which bourbon, sherry, port, or whiskey were previously aged play a key role in its production, each adding its own distinctive note to the rum. The result is a rum that is much more than just a spirit – it is a symphony of flavors, aromas, and stories.
Tasting profile:
Color: Deep rose gold with rich dark red highlights.
Aroma: Elegantly balanced between the world of malt whisky and the sweetness of mature rum – delicate smokiness, vanilla, fruit and wood tones can be detected.
Taste: The smoky notes are noticeable on the tip of the tongue and at the back of the palate. The sweetness of honey and ripe cherries contrasts elegantly with black pepper, chocolate and dried fruit, while old wood adds depth and authenticity.
Finish: Long, smooth and harmonious with lingering notes of fruit and spice.
Serving:
Austrian Empire Navy Rum Malt Whisky Cask Finish deserves attention – ideally served neat at room temperature or with a drop of water to open up all its layers. It is also suitable as a premium digestif after a good dinner.
The elegant gift packaging in a tube makes it ideal as a gift or a luxurious addition to your home collection.
About Albert Michler Distillery:
Albert Michler is one of the oldest rum brands in the former Austro-Hungarian Empire. Its story began in 1863 in Buchsdorf, Silesia – now part of the Czech Republic – where founder Albert Michler established a distillery and rum distillery that soon became a supplier to the imperial court and the Austro-Hungarian navy.
Albert Michler was not only an experienced producer of liqueurs and rums, but also a visionary. His Original Buchsdorfer Magenbitter became famous not only for its taste, but also for its alleged healing properties. During the cholera epidemic of 1866, he set up an emergency hospital and used his herbal liqueurs as part of the treatment for infected soldiers.
After World War II, the original distillery was closed, but the brand did not disappear. Today, it continues its legacy under the name Albert Michler Distillery Int. Ltd. in the United Kingdom, with great respect for the traditions and legacy of its founder. Michler rums and liqueurs are now made from the finest ingredients sourced from Jamaica, Barbados, Trinidad & Tobago, and the Dominican Republic, with quality, craftsmanship, and respect for history remaining key.
