Yoichi Distillery, Nikka's first whisky distillery, was chosen by Taketsura for its ideal conditions to match Scotland - a cool, humid climate, abundant water sources and clean air, which were essential to reproduce authentic Scotch whisky without compromise. In February 2022, some of the Yoichi distillery's facilities, including the drying tower, were recognised as important cultural relics, highlighting their significance in the history of the Japanese whisky industry.
