Gunroom Navy Rum pays tribute to an era when rum was an integral part of the British Navy. The "navy rum" style continues the tradition of strong blends that were served on ships as a daily ration – known as a tot. This rum is bottled with a high alcohol content of 65%, which gives it an authentic, full-bodied and intense character.
Origin and composition of the blend:
The final blend combines rums from several Caribbean destinations:
The rums are of varying ages (approx. 3–5 years), and part of the blend also contains unaged distillate. After blending, the producer allows the mixture to "rest" briefly in open containers so that the individual components blend harmoniously.
Tasting profile:
Color: Straw gold.
Aroma: Intense, with pronounced alcohol, overripe bananas, caramel, and vanilla.
Taste: Strong and creamy. Notes of caramel, spices, flambéed banana, and tobacco.
Gunroom Navy Rum is a robust, spicy, and full-bodied British-style rum, built primarily on the heavy character of Demerara rum. Thanks to its high strength, it is ideal for distinctive cocktails (e.g., Navy Grog), but it also stands up well neat or on the rocks. It pairs excellently with a cigar.
