Product description

Abuelo Añejo 7 Años is a matured Panamanian rum that offers a pleasant balance between sweeter fruity notes, spices, and a subtle hint of oak. It is aged for 7 years in carefully selected small oak barrels, giving it a rounder structure and a more complex character.

Tasting Profile:

Color: Red amber.

Aroma: Dates, raisins, and vanilla.

Flavor: Balanced and slightly mineral, with notes of figs, cinnamon, and dried fruit.

Texture: Medium-bodied, rounded, and balanced.

The aroma features dates, raisins, and vanilla, which create a sweeter and warmer opening. The taste is balanced and slightly mineral, with notes of figs, cinnamon, and dried fruit. The texture is medium-bodied, rounded, and harmonious, making this rum ideal for sipping on its own or in high-quality mixed drinks.

Recommended Serving:

Enjoy it neat, on the rocks, or in mixed drinks. Thanks to its seven-year aging and harmonious profile, it also works well in cocktails, such as the Abuelo Libre or San Isidro.

About the Ron Abuelo Brand:

The story of the Ron Abuelo brand dates back to 1908, when Spanish immigrant Don José Varela Blanco founded the first sugar mill in the newly established Republic of Panama. His vision, hard work, and determination not only revolutionized sugarcane production in the Pesé Herrera region but also laid the foundation for something extraordinary—a world-renowned rum.

In 1936, Don José’s sons convinced him to begin producing spirits from sugarcane. And that is when the story of Panamanian rum—which we know today as Ron Abuelo—began. The first Panamanian spirit, Seco Herrerano, has been produced since 1950, and half a century later, in 2001, Abuelo rum set out into the world and became a global brand.

Ron Abuelo translates to “grandfather”—and that is exactly what its character is like: wise, mature, and true to tradition. Abuelo rums are made from the brand’s own sugarcane syrup, not industrial molasses, and are aged right in the heart of Panama in American oak barrels.
