Beefeater represents a brand of premium gin, which brings a flavor of 9 unique herbs.
The original recipe book of Beefeater from 1895 states you need 9 herbs, their parts or fruits, to create a full and robust flavor: juniper, root and seeds of Angelica archangelica, coriander seeds, licorice, almonds, orris root, Seville oranges and lemon peels. Thanks to the experiences of master distiller Desmond Payne a unique spirit of long tradition and specific character is created in Beefeater Distillery. It’s a clearly natural sugar-free product without any appetizing substances. It represents a wonderful base liquor for various cocktails.
The history of Beefeater company tracks back to 1862, when James Burrough (born 1835) bought a distillery Chelsea on Cale Street from Rectifier & Compounder company, John Taylor, for 400£. Since 1863 he started to produce gin in his own personal style. At first the distillery proceeded with production of liquors, which had been started by the previous owners, and then began to build its own reputation and extended its customer base.
James Burrough spent his time on experimenting, inventing and using new methods. He found out he created new bold, full-flavored gin by mixing specific nature products based on a recipe. Burrough called it – Beefeater Gin. After almost an immediate success of his gin the product became a flagship of the James Burrough company.
The alcohol content is 40 %.
