Product description
Austrian Empire Navy Rum Cognac Double Cask is a distinctive Dominican rum that combines extended aging using the Solera system with additional aging in cognac barrels. It is based on a carefully selected blend of rums aged for up to 21 years in oak barrels, with the stated average age of the blend being approximately 16 years.
Aging:
The rum is aged using the Solera system in oak barrels, with the blend containing rums up to 21 years old. Subsequent aging for 12 to 16 months in cognac barrels adds further depth to the composition and harmonizes the fruitiness, woodiness, and character of long-term aging.
The result is a complex and distinctive rum with a higher alcohol content of 46.5% ABV, which nevertheless retains a smooth and refined character.
Tasting Profile:
Color: Rustic bronze with dark golden highlights.
Aroma: A balanced aroma of Dominican rum complemented by the character of cognac barrels.
Taste: Light notes of chocolate, herbs, tropical fruit, cognac, and aged oak.
Finish: Intense, smooth, and delicious.
Austrian Empire Navy Rum Cognac Double Cask is a fuller-bodied and more complex variant intended primarily for slow sipping neat. The combination of tropical fruit, chocolate, herbs, cognac, and aged wood creates a rich profile that lovers of more mature and distinctive rums will appreciate.
About Albert Michler Distillery:
Albert Michler is one of the oldest rum brands in the former Austro-Hungarian Empire. Its story began in 1863 in Buchsdorf, Silesia – now part of the Czech Republic – where founder Albert Michler established a distillery and rum distillery that soon became a supplier to the imperial court and the Austro-Hungarian navy.
Albert Michler was not only an experienced producer of liqueurs and rums, but also a visionary. His Original Buchsdorfer Magenbitter became famous not only for its taste, but also for its alleged healing properties. During the cholera epidemic of 1866, he set up an emergency hospital and used his herbal liqueurs as part of the treatment for infected soldiers.
After World War II, the original distillery was closed, but the brand did not disappear. Today, it continues its legacy under the name Albert Michler Distillery Int. Ltd. in the United Kingdom, with great respect for the traditions and legacy of its founder. Michler rums and liqueurs are now made from the finest ingredients sourced from Jamaica, Barbados, Trinidad & Tobago, and the Dominican Republic, with quality, craftsmanship, and respect for history remaining key.
