The Ron Cristóbal brand brings a range of premium rums designed for true adventurers. Detail:
Cristóbal Colón, better known as Christopher Columbus, was an explorer, navigator and colonizer who crossed the Atlantic Ocean a total of four times.
In 1492 he landed on the island that was to become his most important discovery. The locals called it Haiti, but Columbus decided to call it La Isla Española, which eventually became Hispaniola. On this island today you will find the Dominican Republic and Haiti. Columbus had only words of praise for Hispaniola - according to him, the island was both beautiful and fertile.
The first ship on which Columbus sailed across the Atlantic Ocean was called the Pinta. It was one of the fastest ships. Rodrigo de Triana, a crew member of this ship, is said to have been the first to sight the New World in October 1492. In addition to the Pinta, Columbus sailed on two other ships, the Niña and the Santa Maria, during his travels. It was his ships that gave the name to the individual rums of the Ron Cristóbal premium series.
In the portfolio of the Ron Cristóbal brand, you will find rums that go perfectly with cocktails, as well as premium rums named after Columbus' ships. This range pays homage to all the historical aspects of rum drinking, with each sip bringing a new adventure. Fermentation and distillation as well as maturation takes place in the Dominican Republic.
Ron Cristóbal Santa Maria Pinot Noir belongs to a series of limited edition premium rums. The distillate underwent double maturation; after the first aging, the rum spent a few more months in Pinot Noir barrels. It was distilled in 2009 and bottled in the summer of 2022 in a run of just 944 bottles.
Flavor Profile:
The aroma is dominated by fresh notes of ripe grapes and orange peel in a contrasting combination with a touch of heavier aromas evoking a pharmacy. The taste shows that the rum has rested in a wine barrel. The tones of the wine are complemented by vanilla, orange and brown sugar. In the end, a slight pungency of white pepper is noticeable.
