Krug 2002 is full of fruitiness and freshness. The climate in 2002 was generous, consistently mild and relatively dry. The highlight of this exceptionally mild year was a long summer with warm days and cool nights, which offered ideal conditions for ripening the grapes.
Krug 2002 is a cuvée of wines of the vintage from a variety of vineyard sites, with undeniable depth and fruit character. It is a balanced dialogue between Pinot Noir (40%), Chardonnay (39%) and Meunier (21%).
The aromas reveal a diverse bouquet of orange blossom with hints of liquorice and a light touch of cocoa or buttery chocolate biscuit.
On the palate, Krug 2002 is wonderful, balanced and smooth with distinctive fresh notes of tropical and candied fruits. Gradually these notes move from citrus to red berry fruits such as blackcurrant.
Krug 2002 will pair well with recipes of duck breast, roasted butternut squash and kumquat chutney or lentil curry spiced with orange zest. For dessert, we recommend it with orange tiramisu or cinnamon brioche with carrot, ginger and lemon mousse.
