Product description

Old Pulteney 13Y Single Malt Whisky is a 13-year-old single malt whisky that combines sweetness with spiciness and classic coastal notes. Malcolm Waring, Director of Pulteney Distillery, carefully selects American and Spanish oak casks to ensure a unique flavour profile full of delicious notes. Every moment of maturation by the sea in this distillery, surrounded by the crisp coastal air of the North Sea, gives this whisky its distinctive salted caramel flavour. This carefully tuned combination of production processes and natural surroundings ensures that every drop of Old Pulteney is a celebration of the sea - from the subtle coastal accords to the strong salty notes. Indulge in a taste of liquid gold that carries the spirit of the Scottish coast.

Old Pulteney 13Y Single Malt Whisky is produced at the Pulteney distillery in Wick, North East Scotland. The whisky gets its distinctive coastal character from maturing by the sea. Production uses exceptionally pure water from Loch Hempriggs and traditional techniques, including the 100-year-old Porteus mill.

Founded in 1826 by James Henderson, the distillery still pumps water through a historic lade designed by Thomas Telford. The process includes slow fermentation and double distillation in copper apparatus, which forms the iconic shape of the Old Pulteney bottle. The whisky is aged in American and Spanish oak casks in warehouses affected by low temperature, high humidity and sea air.

Colour: Amber with lighter copper shades.

Aroma: Rich and sweet. Notes of caramelised apple, warm custard and cinnamon-spiced pastry. Towards the end, fresh rye bread appears with bright orange citrus, stone fruit and a subtle oak dryness.

Finish: Sweet and spicy, with caramel, nutmeg and caramelised popcorn mingling, gradually giving way to rich notes of floral honey, roasted almonds and creamy vanilla.

Finish: Spice and honey linger with a welcome tannic dryness in the form of dried fruit.
