Flavour profile:

Aroma: Sweet dried figs and currants are immediately followed by Christmas spices such as nutmeg and cinnamon. Nuances of dark chocolate and fresh leather complete the rich olfactory experience.

Taste: The opening flavours of Demerara sugar and dark ripe cherries give way to notes of black raspberries. This is followed by intense flavours of dark chocolate and rich red apples.

After his death in 1899, his widow Eleanor ran the business and opened a new distillery known as the Cromac Distillery. The distillery used pure water from local wells and produced the popular ginger beer. McConnell's, which was at the heart of the Irish distilling industry, plans to revive this tradition with a new distillery in Belfast, keeping with the tradition of writing "whiskey" without the "e".
