About the Clyde May's brand:

Clyde May's is a story of American courage, ingenuity and indomitable spirit. Its founder, Clyde May, was born on Rabbit Road in Alabama shortly before the Great Depression, in a time and place that demanded resilience and character.

Clyde May served in the U.S. Army's 77th Infantry Division in 1942 during World War II, where his command of a rifle squad earned him a Bronze Star and Purple Heart. After an injury that brought him home, May began making moonshine in 1946, which became a favorite among locals.

After decades of producing illegal but highly regarded moonshine, Clyde May's finally saw legalization in 2001 and its brand was declared the official state spirit of Alabama. This recognition came after more than 70 years of distilling, a testament to its authenticity, dedication and tireless work.

His whiskeys are characterized by their subtle yet distinctive character, blending traditional American whiskey notes with distinctive elements such as the apple Clyde used to finish his spirits.
