Product description

Wild Turkey 101 Bourbon is a distinctive Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey with an iconic alcohol content of 101 proof, or 50.5%. It is a traditional bourbon with a full-bodied flavor, a higher proportion of rye, and a characteristic spicy profile that retains its character even when served on the rocks or in cocktails.

Aging:

It is aged in new American white oak barrels with the deepest char level, No. 4 “alligator char”, which gives the bourbon a rich color, intense oak character, and typical depth. Wild Turkey 101 Bourbon is aged for approximately 6–8 years, giving it a rich flavor with notes of vanilla, caramel, oak, and baking spices.

Tasting Profile:

Aroma: Vanilla, cinnamon, and oak.

Flavor: Initially a light sweetness with notes of vanilla and caramel, followed by oak and baking spices.

Finish: The bold spice typical of Wild Turkey and orange peel.

Serving:

Thanks to its strength and boldness, Wild Turkey 101 Bourbon is ideal for those looking for a bourbon with character. It tastes great neat, on the rocks, and in classic cocktails, especially the Old Fashioned, where its flavor doesn’t get lost among the other ingredients.

Awards:

About Wild Turkey® Distilling Company:

Wild Turkey® Distilling Company is an American distillery based in Lawrenceburg, Kentucky, with deep roots in the tradition of bourbon and rye whiskey production. Its roots date back to the 19th century—in 1855, Austin Nichols began trading in wine and spirits, and in 1869, the Ripa brothers opened a family distillery on Wild Turkey Hill. It was this very place that later became the home of the Wild Turkey brand.

The name Wild Turkey originated in 1940, when one of the executives offered his bourbon to friends during a wild turkey hunting trip. Since then, the brand has become a symbol of distinctive Kentucky bourbon, known for its full-bodied character, spiciness, and honest craftsmanship.

The Russell family played a pivotal role in the brand’s history. Jimmy Russell joined Wild Turkey in 1954 and became one of the most influential figures in the world of bourbon. His son, Eddie Russell, joined the distillery in 1981 and was named master distiller in 2015. Together, they formed a unique father-son duo that significantly shaped the brand’s modern style.

Wild Turkey is known for its emphasis on traditional production methods, its proprietary yeast strain, limestone-filtered Kentucky water, non-GMO grains, and aging in new, deeply charred American white oak barrels. The result is bourbons and rye whiskeys with a robust, spicy, and authentically Kentucky flavor profile.

Today, Wild Turkey continues to build on its legacy through both classic and premium editions, such as Wild Turkey 101, Rare Breed, Kentucky Spirit, and Longbranch, and ranks among the most respected American whiskey brands, with a long history, a distinctive identity, and an unmistakable signature style.
