Jameson Caskmates Stout Edition is the result of an innovative collaboration between Jameson Whiskey and a local brewery that came out of a friendly conversation at the bar. This unique Irish whiskey is triple distilled and then patiently aged in Irish craft stout barrels, bringing a new dimension of flavour and aroma.
Production and ageing:
Jameson Caskmates Stout Edition is meticulously crafted using the triple distillation method typical of Jameson, giving it an extraordinary smoothness. Aged in barrels that have previously aged fine craft stout beers, the whisky takes on a unique character and rich layers of flavour.
Tasting profile:
Aroma: Freshly cut hay with hints of fresh fruit, green apples and pears, complemented by lime zest. Subtle notes of potted spices that give way to nuances of green tea, hazelnuts and milk chocolate.
Taste: A sweet opening, typical of Irish whiskey, quickly transforming into subtle notes of hops and cocoa beans from the beer barrels.
Finish: Long and sweet, with dominant notes of milk chocolate and butterscotch.
Serving:
Jameson Caskmates Stout Edition is great for sipping on its own or as part of a richer cocktail. It's particularly good paired with light foods that don't overpower its subtle nuances, such as a good dark chocolate dessert or as an accompaniment to lower-fat cheeses.
History:
The beginning of the Jameson story dates back to 1780 when John Jameson, originally from Alloa in Scotland, laid the foundations of Dublin's famous Bow Street distillery. Although this was a time before social media and the selfie, John Jameson and his family founded a business that has endured for over two centuries, creating a whiskey that is now one of the most recognised in the world.
John Jameson II took over the management of the distillery from his father in 1804 and continued his work, laying the foundations for the growth Jameson experienced during the 19th century. Under his leadership, Jameson whisky was renowned for its quality and the motto 'Live a little more and fight a little less' resonated with whisky lovers for decades.
John Jameson III and John Jameson IV, known as Jack, continued the family tradition, both holding prominent positions in Dublin's public life. Andrew Jameson, another of the family line, gained international recognition as a businessman and patron of the arts, and was appointed a senator in Ireland's first senate.
The Old Jameson Distillery reopened as a visitor centre in 1997, and underwent extensive renovations in 2007. In 2018, Jameson Distillery Bow St. was awarded "World's Best Distillery Tour" at the World Travel Awards, a testament to its enduring influence and popularity.
Jameson Caskmates Stout Edition is ideal for whiskey lovers looking for an unusual taste experience. Thanks to its unique stout barrel aging process, it offers rich and complex flavors that are ideal for special occasions or as an innovative gift for any whiskey lover.
