The foundation of Černý Baron Fernet is the maceration of herbs that aid digestion. To ensure the drink’s high quality, fifteen types of herbs from the Mediterranean region—where fernet originated about three centuries ago in local monasteries—were used in the production of Černý Baron.
In addition to the careful selection of herbs and strict adherence to the secret recipe, great care is taken to ensure a sufficiently long aging period. Thanks to this and the meticulous craftsmanship, Černý Baron can bear the title of a first-class fernet with a full-bodied, centuries-old traditional alcohol content of 40%.
A balanced, rounded, and distinctly bitter taste is a hallmark of well-infused herbs.
It tastes best on its own or mixed with tonic water. To soften the typically bitter taste, you can add fruit juices.
